Lutepo confessions: Series 2; Episode 1 – Muckraking Extra
It must be quite a nightmare to be Oswald Lutepo’s lawyer. You see, the guy is all over the place pleading ‘not guilty’ today while tomorrow he is making statements owning up to all the crimes he is alleged to have committed.
And he goes all over the place implicating just about everyone.
Of course he made everyone’s job easy when he confessed he is actually a pathological liar whose tongue must be believed at one’s own peril.
The trouble is, of course, he has not stopped talking. So how will we judge that these are outright lies, these are half-truths, these are truths?
I know Lutepo is scared man. He knows he faces a long jail-term and financial ruin from which he might not recover. But he is not helping himself by being all over the place, saying everything while communicating nothing.
The only clear and uncontested truth in all his ramblings is that he is not denying the fact that he is a gullible man ready to be used by all manner of people as long as he lays his hands on a cool billion here, a couple of millions there.
Can someone tell Mr. Lutepo that there is one term for such a person? A thief. And thieves belong to jail!
From the myriad statements he has made I am not sure where is the wisdom in pleading ‘not guilty’ when all what he is saying is that he knowingly allowed himself to be used to steal government money.
Perhaps it is high time Mr. Lutepo stole a leaf (for he seems to like stealing) from that Senzani woman and stopped wasting everyone’s time. His lawyer might negotiate a light sentence for him.
He is still a young man; after, say, three years he will still be on the right side of 40. He may pick himself up, dust himself up and re-invent himself and hopefully embark on a more honest life.
By the way, why is he in hiding? Hiding from what? The very truth he is trying to profess? Is the guy not acting confused?
I will tell you why I think he is confused. The guy is asking us to forgive him for the hardships his selfish acts visited upon us. And yet he is hiding from the same law that could have confirmed his remorse and exact the right penance for him to atone for his sins.
And, by the way, this guy – by his own unwitting admission – likes to be used by others to further their criminal interests as long as there is a good cut for him.
Can we not extrapolate that he is also possibly being used by certain people to deflect attention from certain things that are not going exactly right somewhere?
I am not too sure but I am prepared to wait for the next episode of the ‘Lutepo Confessions’ which, I believe, is undergoing final edits as I write this.

Having gone through your article one fails to understand what you are trying to put across.Are you sympathetic or sarcastic ? Can you walk into my office and draw a chq of MK 100 million fully signed by me and authorised by me and I deny you tomorrow claiming that I don’t know you? Who are you speaking for? Remember the hon former president has a string of lawyers who are ready to defend her. Do not speak for them, let the former president clear her name through the instutions set by the country, the courts.
