Featuring their marksman and current top goal scorer Richard Mbulu upfront, Mafco however saw themselves been frustrated by the Zomba based soldiers’ compact shape.

Still more, Mafco made a breakthrough in the first half when Red Lions uncharactristically left Mbulu gifting him a free goal.

He rounded Benesi Kaisi who man-maked him from the first whistle undtil the 23rd minute when he broke the dead lock.

Mafco went into the break ahead only to give away the lead in the second half.

Innocent Bokosi scored the equalizer for Red Lions.

Mafco who had started to play some delaying tactics then put an extra gear in search of the winning goal but nothing matrialized as Red Lions defended jealously to maintain their clean home record.

With the draw, Mafco have moved to third position and they now have 46 points  from 25 games.

On the other hand, Red Lions have reached 36 points and are on tie with fellow soldiers from Mzuzu Moyale Barracks who on Sunday face Dwangwa United.

In a post-match interview, Mafco Coach Thomas Maloya said the draw is now water under the bridge and their focus is now on Bullets game.

It promises to be a cracker after the two sides drew 2-2 in the first round.

Meanwhile, Kamuzu Barracks have  returned to the top position after beating Azam Tigers 3-1.

They have accumulated 49 points from 26 games followed by Blue Eagles on second with 48 points from 25 games.
