Magistrate Trust-God Mkandawire suspended over corruption allegations
Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda has suspended Edingeni Third Grade Magistrate Trust-God Mkandawire after reports of bribery to dispense justice.
He is also reportedly to have been pocketing court fines instead of remitting them to the judiciary.
“There have been numerous complaints by court users against your conduct, we find rhw allegations to be serious,” reads a letter to Mkandawire from Judiciary which has been signed by Registrat of the High and Supreme Courts, Jack N’riva on behalf of Chief Justice.
The letter is dated February 17, 2017.
It states that the decision has been rezched at following numerous complaints by court users.
N’riva said in the letter that the matter has been referred ti the Judicial Services Commission pending hearing on a date which is yet to be announced.
The Judiciary has also suspended other two officers, Leonard Shaba a court marshal and cour clerk Happy Kamanga.
