Malawi albino woman discharged from hospital, traumatised
A Chitipa woman with albinism has been discharged from Mzuzu Central Hospital where she has spent two months after thugs severed her hand.
She was discharged over the weekend amd driven back to her house where her neighbour and unidentified man chopped off her hand when her family and her were sleeping.
The Chitipa district social welfare officers said the lady is very traumatised and the officers will work with her to bring her back to every day life.
The police say security will be provided for her and other people with albinism in the disrict and that meetings with traditional, civic and political leaders on the security of the woman had already taken place.
The woman, who looked confused, seemed not to be happy to be at the same place where she was hacked.
She said she was still in pain.
