Malawi Association UK donates towards cancer project

Malawi Association UK (MAUK) a charitable umbrella body of all Diaspora Malawians and charity organisations in the UK recently donated money to one of its partners Malawi Health Care Support UK (MAHECAS) in aid of a cancer project in Malawi.

Making the donation in London during Malawi’s 50th Independence celebrations organised by Malawi High Commission, MAUK chairperson Martin Guga said Malawi Association UK had chosen to donate the money that was realised from the inaugural Malawi Achievers Awards to MAHECAS because of their impeccable truck record in their continuous efforts to help various patients throughout Malawi.

“We decided to donate the money to MAHECAS, because it is one of the most outstanding charitable organisations for Malawians in the UK. Their work towards the health care in our country, Malawi, is stupendous and above reproach. We have trust and belief that by donating the money MAHECAS, many lives will be saved,” said Guga.mau

Guga who presented a cheque amounting to £1066.33 to MAHECAS chairlady Dr Milika Matiti thanked all Malawians and friends of Malawi in the UK for their support towards Malawi Achievers .

The MAUK leadership also expressed appreciation to Malawi envoy to London, Bernard Sande and the Malawi High Commission staff for their support in working with all Malawians and friends of Malawi.

MAHECAS Committee was hailed for their commitment in serving and helping needy Malawians in various health related projects saying that their contribution to Malawi is but commendable and something to be proud of and encouraged all Malawians to borrow a leaf from MAHECAS’s work ethic and act of humanity.

Receiving the cheque Dr Matiti  thanked Malawi Association UK for their donation and encouraged them to continue with such kind gestures.

“I would like thank Malawi Association UK for the donation and let me emphasize here that MAHECAS will use the money received towards the Cancer Project in Malawi. It will make a great difference and we are so happy that as Malawians we have managed to raise money for ourselves to help the needy back home and MAHECAS is grateful for the donation,” she said.

MAHECAS’s sole purpose is to raise money to assist hospitals and medical services in Malawi.

The Voluntary Executive Committee of MAHECAS works directly with nurses and doctors   in Malawi in identifying needed equipment for their hospitals or Health Centres.

The charity has appointed volunteers to monitor and co-ordinate our assistance in Malawi.

MAUK Project Coordinator for the Malawi Achievers Award, Felix Banda, speaking earlier explained that Malawi Association UK strives to recognise and reward people who are making a positive difference to The Malawian community in the UK and in Malawi.
