Malawi Association UK organises summer party Sept. 7

Malawi Association UK (MAUK) invites Malawians and those that support Malawi causes to a summer party that will be held at  High Commssison’s Kwacha House, London  on Saturday  7 September.

“The aim of this Summer Party is to bring Malawians and friends of Malawi in the UK together and have fun and enjoy the twilight of the Summer Season and promote networking,” MAUK official Felix Banda told Nyasa Times.

Banda also disclosed that the MAUK will use the proceeds from the summer party to help in the operation and establishment of the forthcoming inaugural Malawian Achievers awards which aims at recognising and rewarding outstanding Malawians in the UK.

He said: “MAUK would also like to use the summer party to raise funds for the impending Malawian Achievers’ awards ceremony whose core objective is recognise and reward people who are making positive difference to the Malawian society in the UK.”

“The Malawian Achievers Awards also aims at recognising the benevolence, kindness, efforts and labours of goodwill people and organisations do for Malawians not only in the UK but also in Malawi from the UK. This is an initiative to show our appreciation and give votes of thanks to all those who care showing them that we care that they care for us and our beautiful country,” said Banda.

Banda however said participants to the twilight summer fête are requested to contribute a minimum cover charge of £10 per head for adults and half the price for children as entry fees at the door.

“We are asking the attendees to the party donate at least a minimum cover charge of £10 for adults and £5 for kids over the age of five years.  There will be lots of exciting things on the day and there will be lots of food, braii, drinks and games.” He said.

“There will also be raffle draws in which the levellers will win lots of exhilarating and thrilling prizes. All and above, there will be music for people to dance especially Malawian vibes and international floor-filling mantras which will be mixed on the decks by a popular London-based Disco Jockey,” he added.

The Malawian High commissioner to London, Bernard Sande is expected to be in attendance alongside other Malawian envoys to the United Kingdom working at the Malawi mission in the British capital according to Banda.

The party is expected to start at 4pm and finish at midnight and the address for the venue for those travelling to Kwacha house is 70 Winnington Road, Hampstead, London. N2 0TX.
