Malawi beach soccer launch set for April 27: Stadal increase sponsorship to K2.5m
Stadal Building Construction Company has raised the sponsorship of Southern Region beach soccer from K1 million (about $2 500) to K2.5 million (about $6 250).
The tournament will take place on April 27th at Nkopola in Mangochi.where there will be a mini-tournament.
Stadal managing director said that it pleased the company to review the sponsorship money following the floatation of the kwacha and that the increment is part of his commitment to see the growth of beach soccer in the country.
“When we talk about social responsibility we really have to mean that,” said Mpoola.
Mpoola aid Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu is expected to grace the tournament.
He also said as one way to spice up the launch, they will be a tournament of four teams namely Army NavyUnit, Zitherepano, Escom and Yagawo with the winning team taking home a whooping K50,000.
Beach Soccer Malawi (BSM) general secretary David Saddo expressed gratitude to BSM for the increment, aying the sponsorship would help in promoting beach soccer in the country.
Saddo said beach soccer has become popular in Malawi, but lack of sponsorship for the Mangochi League affected the standard of the sport.
