I think it is extremely offensive to call these respectable girls “whores”.
Even if one does not subscribe to the idea of “beauty contests” because of standards of body covering, or lack thereof, it is extreme to call the participants such demeaning terms.
These girls, especially the winners, deserve scrutiny, yes. But they do not deserve the hatred.
We can comment on how pretty or not-pretty they are; how their attire fits them; on the quality of their step on the catwalk, and what have you. But NOT calling them “whores”.
This is unacceptable, and really uncivilized.

I wonder what defines a whore, because from where I stand, every beautiful woman who happen to attract more men and inspire more women according to Malawian perception is a whore. The ironic part or should I say hypocritical part of it though is that every woman aspire to be beautiful than the rest, the bleaching of skin speaks in volumes, and every man fancy a beautiful woman.
