Malawi Boxing Association turns to Bushiri for assistance

Malawi Boxing Association (MABA) now believes that Prophet Shepherd Bushiri Can be their last hope if the dreams to participate in 2016 Rio Olympics can bear fruits.

Prophet Bushiri: MABA ask for his help

Prophet Bushiri: MABA ask for his help

MABA acting General Secretary Eliah Kamphinda Banda told Nyasa Times that so far they have asked the man of God to help in supporting at least 5 amateur boxers to qualifiers in Azerbaijan in Baku.

“We have tried every way possible but it seems there is no opening beckoning us that’s why we are very optimistic that Man of God Major Prophet Bushiri can help,” he said.

For the trip to take place the body need at least K23.4 million for air tickets, insurance, upkeep and visa where need be.

“This is a budget for five boxers, one coach and two officials; and also for camping either in South Africa or Zambia. The games will be mid next month,”said Kamphinda Banda.

Malawi Boxing Association which has been in existence for over 20 years has no offices and depends more on Government through Malawi National Sports Council.

Recently they organized a National Championship in Liwonde which unearthed many young and upcoming boxers who can bring medals to Malawi.

In December, MABA through Malawi Olympic Committee and and International Boxing Association organized a 1-star course. Unfortunately, we are yet to raise an equivalent of $2100 for the results and certificates to come out.

“Although we are eagerly awaiting for the K23.4 million from the man of God, we pray if we could have at least an extra K10m from other sources for administrative costs which includes the money to retrieve the certificates,” he said.

Recently, Bushiri donated K44 million to the Malawi national football team, the Flames, before facing Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The question of which came first: the egg or the chicken, is relevant here. To wit: Regarding Malawians’ practice of incessant begging, did the people learn from the Government(s) or the other way round? I am not talking about the beggars on the streets in our cities or “towns”. Rather this is about “organized” begging and about relatives who expect one to dish out paper money every time one visits the homestead.
No wonder some of us postpone visiting relatives because they actually expect us to give them some money every time we go home. Can you imagine that?
Please lets change our mindset; even some of our non-Malawian friends know something about our begging culture now.
Otherwise, we risk the word “Malawi” being synonymous with “begging” in the Urban Dictionary. What will we do then? Change the name of our country, because of the disrepute?

  9. mbwiye says:

if you don’t have money to run your “so called associations” shut them down after all Malawi doesn’t benefit from them.. asamakula mopusa

  10. ya_smoothDJ says:

Please amalawi tisamachititse manyazi ziko.we have a govt in place.this is the responsibility of the able govt.you govt wake up make available more resources to the pipo or else pipo will resort in begging as other quoters are doing and eventualy this trend will bring unnecessary friction between bushiri and the govt.please please tiyeni tipemphe kuboma basi or else clear first with govt before we can forward it to the man of God

  12. Goliath says:

Kodi zilizonse kwa Bushiri basi? Muchita manyazi atakukanirani.

  13. Wiseman from the east says:

Amalawi kuchititsa manyazi, instead of being business minded and rise above begging for arms more especially from bushiri. I will be grateful if you are not given the said help. Mukanakhala kuti mwina mumawinako, eish sjame on you. Leave the guy alone and develop a way to sustain your cause, apo ayi just close those associations

    I wish people’s shamelessness and ignorance had limits . . .
. . . At least they could have realised that Bushiri does not have a sea of money wherefrom, he can draw unlimited amounts and to everyone, give. And therefore could have left him alone, if not forever, at least for some time.
. . . Sadly, it takes wisdom to feel ashamed, and in turn a lot of brains to be wise; and Malawi’s reputation for ubiquitous and egregious shortage of brains; is well-documented, even from the top and other fly-by-night technocrats.
    ………………….
. . . If you think am lying, just look around; you would see Kachaje and Madise akukolezera kuti tizimupempha Bushiri. This is very very bad for Malawi. Now you are making everyone of us (Malawians) look bad. Coz . . .

“The shame of a mad man dancing naked in the marketplace goes to his sane relatives.” – Nigerian Proverb
I am ashamed to be associated with this nation of so many beggars!
    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
I wish Bushiri could grow some steel balls and tell off these shameless Malawian beggars.
. . . “Am currently financially busy,” is a simple but very powerful term that he can use; without indicating he is tired or fed up with this all-direction, incessant and stray begging.
. . . Sadly, Bushiri would want to boast about his riches hence continue to give when deep inside; he is deeply troubled, big time; with these shameless Malawian beggers.

This very irritating and extremely bad.

  15. BOKHO says:

Mathanyula please assist these guys. If Jim Jack ask assistance from Man of God then you start to block him. He is not standing for presidency its just too small space to run it. He can overturn you Mathanyula. I salute major 1.

  19. Tonde wa mbuzi says:

This is unfair, the fact that Major 1 is a man of God and a good person does not mean, that he should be responsible to each and every problem, involving Malawians. The man of God works almost 24/7 both on religious and business issues, therefore no wonder he is what he is today. Please leave him alone. If he want to assist people he normally does that as the Spirit of God direct him.

  20. Peter says:

    Its enough. Stop begging. Shame

  21. Umunthu Phiri says:

Guys, asiyeni a MABA athandizidweko. Which is a better deal, kupempha dollar kwa za kumidima kapena kupempha kwa munthu wa Mulungu. Tikudziwa kuti enenu ngotumidwa ndi boma kuti mudetserere. I would like to urge MABA that they should explore more sponsorship. Enawa osawamvera adazolowera kudya za cashgate.

  24. mac says:

Do we really need boxing?? I would urge government not even to give them a penny in future. We have to start prioritizing – years of assistance yet no chance or hope that they will become self dependent.

  25. Aublic says:

First of all…how did they came up with the cost since they are not sure if the activities will be held in South Africa or Zambia. The cost can not be the same for both venues worse enough you are not even ashamed you are asking for an extra pocket money? Begger has no choice wake up and demand from your goverment. if they cant help tell them to close up that boxing arm its useless. Supporting masewera akakhala amagazi. Bushiri if you help blood spot now we will question your belief

  26. Bob Mtonya says:

And someone says all the beggers should be removed from the streets. So what are you going to do with this MABA beggers. They should be chased from town since begging is begging whether corporate or individual. A Malawi kuchititsa manyazi mxiiiiiieeew!
