Malawi Catholic bishops hold first plenary meeting 2013
Catholic bishops in Malawi are holding their first plenary meeting for this year from January 28 to February 1 2013.
Meeting at the Catholic secretariat in Lilongwe the bishops will discuss among others the progress of the activities proposed for the Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XV1 running from October 11 2012 to November 24 2013, prepare for the AMECEA plenary meeting to be held in 2014, discuss matters pertaining to the Catholic University.
The statement from the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) signed by ECM secretary general Fr. George Buleya says the bishops will also discuss and endorse Catechetical Resource Handbook, Complementary Norms, Diocesan Priests’ Spirituality and Constitution.
The bishops will also examine emerging and topical moral questions and the Church’s response to the same; receive progress report about the Chichewa Missal and the new local languages translation of the Mass and receive progress and status reports from commissions and departments at the Catholic secretariat.
