Malawi Catholics exchange blows in church

Catholics at Likuni Parish in Lilongwe on Sunday put aside Bibles and Jesus crosses to exchange blows over disagreement of a parish priest.

Lilongwe Police Station publicist Kingsly Dandaula confirmed the police rushed to the parish to pacify the place.

He said there were no injuries after the violence.

Reports indicate that some members of the church are not happy with Parish Priest.

They want him out of the parish and presented the matter to Lilongwe Diocese for action.

However before a decision was made, some of the Catholics wanted to remove the priest by force as he was about to lead mass, annoying a section of the Catholics who opposed the move leading to the fracas.

This is the first time in recent history that Catholics have fought in Church after Muslims and Christians of Zambezi Evangelical Church.

The Catholic leadership is yet to comment on the matter.

The fight comes barely a week after the holy week of Easter, when Catholics follow to the latter church rituals to remain holy as they commemorated the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ whom Christians believe is the Son of God.

Do you think Jesus lied when He said a fruit is known by its fruits. This church does not belong to Jesus. Establishment of this church was not authorized by Jesus. Thats why they worship pope and think that they will make it to heaven. Never! you will never reach heaven and Pope is not a vicar of Christ. The bible says in 1 Timothy 2: 5, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Pope and Mary are not involved in any way in mediating us to God. Jesus is the… Read more »

When you look closely into the cause of the shameful and unbelievable occurance, you will divulge into no uncertain terms that the cause had some connections with finances of the denomination. The houses of God have these days become the houses of solecisms where The Priests and their bedfellows prey on public funds. You cannot cajole the Supreme being otherwise, your sins will boomerang. The Church leaders must demonstrate civility in order to attract more members into your congregations.AMEN!!!

If you worship in spirit, you wouldn’t want to pummel each other’s body over church disagreements. Catholics are like moslems: they worship in flesh – very good at following church/mosque rituals, but poor in spirit. People have to come to church prayerfully and charged in spirit. Take any disagreement and conflict to God in prayer in the name of Jesus (not in the name of some Maria or Muhammad). If you want to fight the war yourself you’ll fail, even if you think you’re powerful, but let God fight the war for you. Be meek; pretend you’re a child and… Read more »
