Malawi champions Silver recalls Panganeni for Mzuzu fixtures

Silver Strikers have pressed a panic button ahead of their weekend fixtures in the northern region, as they have called in their forgotten vast experienced talisman Panganeni Ndovi to beef up their defence which has been shaky since the inception of the 2013/2014 Super League.

The Bankers have tricky assignments in Mzuzu as they rock horns with Mzuzu United on Saturday before facing the soldiers from Moyale Barracks 24 hours later.

The 2012-2013 Champions have been struggling in defence especially on the left side since the departure of Mustafa Salimu to Kamuzu Barracks and basing on the fact that their sweeper Lucky Malata is on suspension saving a red card.

Silver Strikers coach Franco Ndawa was optimistic that the inclusion of Ndovi would tighten his defence since the talisman has enormous experience.

“I am optimistic that the inclusion of Ndovi will help in bringing sanity to my defence. We are invading Mzuzu with one mission, which is to collect maximum six points,” said Ndawa.

Meanwhile, the Area 47 outfit can now breathe a sigh of relief after they finally managed to secure the services of Young Chimodzi Jnr from relegated Escom United.

Chimodzi was at area 47 on loan from the electricians.

Silver Strikers treasurer, Fred Kalonga confirmed to the Malawi News Agency (Mana) that they have paid K1.4 million to the electricians for Chimodzi.

In other Saturday fixtures, rookies Envirom F.C, who salvaged a 1-1 draw at the hands of Mafco FC last weekend, host Big Bullets at the Kamuzu Stadium as another commercial city giant; Mighty Wanderers invades Nkhota-kota to face the Salima-based soldiers Mafco at Chitowe Stadium.

The Area 30 cops, Blue Eagles have a home ground advantage as they hosts visiting Red Lions at Nankhaka Stadium with Azam Tigers trekking to Nchalo to meet civil servants (Civo) at Kalulu Stadium.

The battle of points continues on Sunday, when strugglers Blantyre United face Civo United at Kamuzu Stadium and a soldiers’ affair at Dedza Stadium between Kamuzu Barracks and Red Lions.

Silver Stadium will be the centre of focus for the capital city football lovers, when Mighty Wanderers takes on Mponela United.

The games continue on Tuesday, with a derby involving Mzuzu United and Moyale Barracks, as Njenjete za ku Lilongwe’s Epac F.C engages Kamuzu Barracks at the Silver Stadium.
