I really wish we could revise the fines. The amounts are too little and people are likely to commit the crime again and again after all we don’t have convict records that can affect a person’s employability etc so they don’t really lose out for such crimes of they don’t go to prison.

Where did this man get the gun, several rounds of amunitions and military uniform? Dziko lilimmanja mwa a galu. Where does the magistrate get this small judgement of K 50,000 for the fake currency? Malawi is gone completely.

These are people bent on destroying the economy. They should be given custodial sentences to deter other criminals from milling fake US Dollars. Can you imagine the impact of having say just US$1 million of fake notes circulating in the Malawian economy? Come to think of people trying to offload MK600 million worth of fake notes on the economy. Government needs to be serious and deal with this counterfeiting it is very dangerous to the economy as a whole.
