Malawi embassy in Berlin donates 368 bags of maize to flood victims
The Malawi Embassy in Berlin, Germany has donated 368 bags of Maize flour towards the disaster response.
The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Malawi in the city of Hamburg, Dr. Heiko Meinhardt presented the donation on Thursday on behalf of the Charge de Affaires at the Malawian Embassy in Germany, Oliver Kumbambe.
Meinhardt said staff members at the Malawian Embassy in Berlin made their individual financial contribution towards the disaster response which was used to buy Maize flour.
While disclosing that the donation included 278 (10kg) and 90 (20kg) bags of Maize flour, Meinhardt said Germany and Malawi are close partners and friends of long standing.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Malawi Government, Chief Relief and Rehabilitation officer for (DoDMA) Dyce Nkhoma thanked the Malawian Embassy in Berlin for the wonderful contribution which according to him will assist the food security cluster in making sure that food is available in many displacement sites.
Nkhoma said, “I would like to thank Malawians working at the Embassy in Berlin, Germany for coming forward to assists us with this donation. The donation has come at a right time when the government through DoDMA is working tirelessly to make sure our brothers and sisters who were affected by the floods are given food for their daily upkeep.”
