FAM general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda said there was need for the association to renew and assess the mode it has been using to recruit national coach in the past.

“We have to reflect on the past and see where we have been going wrong when recruiting our coaches. As such we will consult widely getting views from the all players including the media,” Nyirenda said.

The four month breather for Malawi national football team would also help the association have enough to do soul searching on the recruitment of the coach.

“Since we are going to have any competitions up to December we will not panic to appoint a new coach as our next assignment is in next year in Africa Championship (Chan) a competition for local based players,” Nyirenda said.

The development has come after announced to appoint a new coach after an executive committee meeting which placed one time caretaker coach Nsanzwirwimo Ramadhan in pole position for the job.

It has also coincidentally comes in the wake of analysts advising FAM not to be carried away by the inconving 1-0 win over Swaziland in the last Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers held on September 4 under the tutege of the Burundian tactician, Ramadhan.

That is a wise decision by FAM executive and I am compelled to comment. The Flames need a well qualified European or South American coach not this Ramadan guy. Focus should be on developing young or raw talent and exporting that talent overseas. We have remained behind because of hiring substandard coaches and having faith in players that have failed at both club and national levels. Malawi needs to produce a dream team with a new generation of stars and not relying on the South African based generation.

You guys rushed to fire Mtawali. Why are you keeping Ramadan when you fired Mtawali? I thought they were coaching together?
