FAM Commercial Director Limbani Matola said the bank would be selling tickets in some selected branches.

Football fans cannot also buy at any of the bank’s branches by depositing into Fam account and redeem the ticket later before the match.

He said so far the arrangement was successful during the Africa Cup of Nation game between Malawi and Swaziland on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.

FDH cashiers also manned the gates during the Flames and Swaziland game.

“We collected K8 million and considering that the turn out was not that impressive,” he said.

He said apart from improving gate revenue the arrangement would be convinient to fans across the buy tickets within their location.

Gate revenue has been controversial due cases of alleged fraud in Malawi for far too long with the money raised not corresponding to the patronage.
