FAM said it has invested K52 million in the Flames’ tailor-made Umbro kit and the replica jerseys that will be sold out to Malawians who love the football national team.

, Walter Nyamilandu Manda, president of FAM   said at College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre replica jerseys will be on sale from Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Group B qualifier against Algeria’s Desert Foxes.

He then urged all soccer loving Malawians to support them by buying the replica jerseys which is of high quality.

Principal Secretary in the ministry of sports, Justin Saidi thanked Umbro for the technical support they are giving to the Malawi national team.

Meanwhile, FAM has warned fans to buy tickets in advance as the sales will not be done on the day of the game against Algeria.

FAM General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda said the association was disappointed to note the sales started on slow note last week but have picked up.
Nyirenda appealed to the fans to buy tickets in advance to avoid last minute hustles.

He bashed Malawians for a tendency of leaving it to late which create unnecessary panic at the end.

“Fans are fond of waiting for the actual day of the match to buy tickets which creates confusion. Fifa also discourages the tendency of selling tickets at the match venue on the actual day of the game,” Nyirenda said.

The cheapest ticket for the Open Stands is going at K1, 000, with K3, 000 MBC Stand and K5, 000 Covered and K10, 000 for VIP.

Flames official sponsors Carlsberg Malawi raised the hype of the match by launching My Carlsberg, My Country Promotion which doled out 1,100 tickets to lucky customers for the brand stout and big bottle popularly known as petroda.

Meanwhile, Algeria are expected to arrive in the country on Thursday and would be offered a chance to have a feel of Kamuzu Stadium.

The Desert Foxes, who are leading Group B, with 6 points from two games, will also access the venue on Friday for a training session.

Malawi are on third position with 3 points after beating Ethiopia 3-2 and losing to Mali 2-0.Mali are on second with 3 points but they have a better goal aggregate than the Flames.

  13. Zeze says:

Walter and your team, please consult extensively before coming up with national team materials e.g. uniforms. We have a number of designers who can design a very good uniform with bright national colours. This one seems not appealing and i guess there is room for improvement. In short, conduct a simple competition and get the best out of it. FAM did consult widely on choosing the name of the national team, the Flames!

  14. ujeni says:

Dull colours. Why cant dull people at FAM not go for bright colours, you people do you watch international foitball. The uniform colour is more like an islam team

  29. Bibo says:

The kit looks good but it would look even better if red socks with green and black stripes in the middle matched with the red kit and if green socks with red and black stripes in the middle matched with the green kit.The black socks look good on the black and green kit worn by Garbadhino. I hope this will be put into consideration.National team players have to look presentable in the national kit.
