An excellent description of Malawi’s woes and their causes. The poor people of Malawi struggle each minute and hour of every day to survive while the powers that be live in ease and luxury. George Orwell’s allegory ‘Animal Farm’ was banned by Hastings Banda and we know why. His successors have simply carried on his modus operandi – as long as the ordinary people have to struggle for survival they will have neither the time nor the inclination to hold their leaders to account. Short of a revolution nothing will change in Malawi.
