Malawi’s High Court Judge Joseph Manyungwa died Saturday aged 46.
Judiciary spokesperson Mike Tembo said Manyungwa died at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre after a short-illness.
Family relations also confirmed the death in an interview with Nyasa Times.
“He was treated of pneumonia but could not win the battle,” said a relation.
He rose through the ranks of the Malawi Justice Ministry from State Advocate to become Judge and at times controversial.
Manyungwa was known amongst people as a “friendly” and also “dedicated ” to his job.
Manyungwa joined the Judiciary on September 1, 2004.
