Malawi in tough group for Zone VI games in Zambia

Malawi has been drawn into a tough group for the Zone VI football competition that starts next month in Lusaka Zambia.

The Under 17 tournament which features 10 teams is being organized by the Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) and runs from December 7 to 16.

The 10 teams have been drawn into two groups of five. The Junior Flames face stiff opposition in Group A which consist hosts Zambia, South Africa, Botswana and Seychelles. Group B has Angola, Namibia, Swaziland, Mauritius and Lesotho.

All games will be played at the Nkoloma Stadium and Zanaco Sunset Stadium in Lusaka. The top two teams in each group advance to the semi-finals.

Leo Mpulula: In charge of the Junior Flames

Meanwhile, the Junior Flames went into camp Sunday at the Football Association of Malawi’s Technical Centre in Chiwembe, Blantyre.

In the absence of John Kaputa, Azam Tigers coach Leo Mpulula takes charge of the side with Nicolas Mhango assisting him. Gerald Phiri is the team manager and Jack Chamangwana is the technical director.

The squad is as follows;

Goalkeepers; Dalitso Makunganya, Kennedy Nyirenda.

Defenders; Kenne Kaunda, Taonga Chingati, Lovemore Jere, Boston Kabango, Cliff Bololo, Juma Kaipa.

Midfielders; Abraham Kamwendo, Gibson Kaluwa, Anthony Kaipa, Brian Phiri, Peter Chembezi, Lessman Singini, Enerst Tambe, Thokozani Harrison, Festus Chikwezga.

Strikers; Albert Mpinganjira, Vincent Chavi, Wongani Kuchisanja, Binwell Katinji, Khumbo Ng’ambi.
