Malawi lose to Tanzania in women’s football
Malawi national football team made a losing return to international football with a 2-1 defeat to Tanzania in a friendly match played on Saturday.
Football Association of Malawi official Christopher Mdolo, who accompanied the team to Tanzania capital Dar-es-Salaam, said the hosts scored as the game was heading for recess.
Aisha Malala scored the opener and added the second in the second to hand the hosts the 2-0 win over Malawi.
Temwa Chawinga, younger sister to Malawi’s Sweden based professional Tabitha was a marvel to watch although Malawi failed to stand the heat against Tanzania.
He said despite the loss it was an opportune time for the players to feel the exposure.
Malawi returned to international after taking a break two years ago to give room for a rebuilding process owing to the team’s poor performance in international competitions.
Thom Mkorongo took charge of the team assisted by women’s football legend Maggie Chombo Malinga.
