Malawi will for the first time have miss ‘Bikini Beach Beauty 2015’ that will see 45 models competing for a grand prize of MK 500, 000 ( half a million Kwacha) with special emphasis on body shape, condition and overall attractiveness.
The beauty pageant will have a 3 day finals starting on Friday 3rd April at Kambiri Lodge in Salima where 15 models will be trimmed from 45 and Saturday 4th April at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge with 30 models and finally Sunbird Nkopola lodge again with the top 15 models competing.
According to creative and promotions director at Primic Inc Prince Chokhotho who are the organizers, they have decided to come up with the bikini beauty pageant to promote tourism.
“As a country we are starving of beauty pageants so I thought of coming up with miss bikini which will take place every year over Easter. This will also in turn promote lakeside tourism as it will draw people to the lake. We are also trying to promote fashion designing in the country because these girls will be dressed by fashion designers.” explained Chokhotho.
He added:”Plus I have been in the game for some time as you may know I started Mr Nuscle sometime way back which I am also reviving.”
Judges will analyze body shape, tone, symmetry, complexion, poise presentation and overall condition. Also, they will be looking for fit, toned feminine body that display proper conditioning.
He said as a social corporate responsibility, the models will participate in ‘dress them fashion shows’ to raise clothing for flood victims.
“During these fashion shows patrons are being asked to bring any of their second hand clothing in a plastic bag and give to the models who will in turn donate them to flood victims.
“The first show will take place on Saturday 28th March at Chancellor college`s Great Hall in Zomba, on Thursday 2nd April at Mount Soche Hotel and finally on 3rd April at Capital Hotel in Lilongwe.” explained Price.
He then sent a message to those that were once involved in making beauty pageants happen in the past to try and revive them.
”My plea is that we have so many beauty pageants that are now dead so I am urging whoever was once responsible for making a beauty pageants happen to bring it back as we are now starved of such.”
