Speaking to Nyasa Times in an interview on Friday, Malawi-music.com co-founder Timothy Ntilosanje revealed that the partnership has come because of a number of factors, pointing out that the first being because Malawi-music.com is the leading site in local music promotion plus its audience is vast and diverse making it an ideal platform for such an event.

Ntilosanje said: “Well, I am personally excited about the partnership, and so is the Malawi-Music.com team. Being a strictly-Malawian-music promotion entity, we have come a long way building visibility, efficiency and authenticity of our brand and this partnership pretty much helps to highlight our efforts to the outside world. I am looking forward to more partnerships along the way.”

He was quick to point out that in the interim the partnership is for this year’s event, but hopeful to keep it going forward with time.

The Malawi-music.com co-founder further disclosed that with the Lake of Stars partnership, the public will stand a chance to win tickets to the festival and Malawi-music.com branded t-shirts.

Commenting on the website, Ntilosanje stated: “It has been a long way coming, we have met struggles along the way, but here we are, going the extra mile. I would like to thank our audience, for being out there; getting all the content we put out, the artists, who are the major players as well.

“As you all know, we have recently launched our online music store, store.malawi-music.com, I would like to ask you all to support Malawian music by buying music from the store, its affordable, and straight forward process. Finally, I would like to thank the whole A-Team behind Malawi-music.com (Sean, Dingaani, Spyral and Kenny) for the limitless efforts to keep the show going up-to-date.”

Lake of Stars Festival is scheduled to take place from September 30 – October 2, 2016 at Chintheche Inn on the northern shores of Lake Malawi.

The Lake of Stars project has promoted cultural tourism and Malawi’s creative industries for 13 years and has been recognised by the Malawian government for the crucial part that it plays in the country’s culture and tourism spheres.

It has also supported a number of other arts projects in Malawi including the Malawi Musician’s Union awards, Tumaini Festival, Likoma Fest, Sand Fest, Blantyre Arts Festival, and the Ndife Amodzi concerts and has delivered training for artists in all three regions of the country.
