Malawi Muslim lawyers’ alumni of Zanzibar University train chiefs on legal issues

A group of Malawian lawyers under Zanzibar University Muslim Graduate Association (ZUMUGA) has said there is need for the traditional leaders to be sensitised to legal issues to keep them abreast with newly enacted laws.

The observation was made Sunday during a sensitisation meeting which Zamora had with chiefs at Senior Chef Kadewere’s residence in Chiradzulu.

A zumuga representative Yusuf Juma said most chiefs and their subjects are not aware of legal issues pertaining to land, deceased estates, child marriages and accidents.

“We have talked about issues that can [lead] somebody to commit criminal offences and end up in jail, thereby depriving the community towards development,” he said, adding that was why they targeted the chiefs so that they should impart it to their subjects.

Speaking on behalf of Senior Chief Kadewere, group village head Kadewere thanked the lawyers for the training.

“We didn’t know anything else concerning these legal issues. The coming of these lawyers has been an eye opener to us,” she said.

That is a good thing to do, an educated person who doesn’t contribute to the well being of the society is worse than a dog, you have done it for the first time in Malawi and so let others follow. Just for public benefit, Zanzibar University, faculty of law is one of the best and well recognized in Africa, Zanzibar is an international University that one cannot compare with these other local Universities here in Malawi so those demeaning Zanzibar University students are just showing their ignorance to the public.

Zamzibar trained lawyers are the worst . Extremely incompetent. It is actually a danger for the unsuspecting general public for these guys to practice law in Malawi. But well, the chief justices child and several other judges children are at zamzibar. So they want their children despite such half baked Ness to practice. Such a shame!!!!!!

U sound like a lawyer trained locally. With a mentality that chancellor college is the best college in the world. That u are better than everyone. There are bar exams to sieve those who are competent from the incompetent ones and I know of lawyers who were trained at Chancellor college who suck at law practice. Anyways u are probably one stubborn human being. Good luck with the hate man.
