Malawi name squad for Benin Africa Cup qualifier

Football Association of Malawi has released the squad for Malawi national team scheduled for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers match against Benin on 20July, 2014 in Benin.

The squad comprises of eight  professional players  who will be joined by 12 local players with their names expected to be released on Friday.

The names of the professional players are Harry Nyirenda, Robi Ngalande, Gabadihno Mhango, Limbikani Mzava, Chiukepo Msowoya, Chimango Kayira, Atusaye Nyondo and Joseph Kamwendo.

Some of the notable professional players missing on the list are Esau Kanyenda, Moses Chavula, Foster Namwera and Robert Ng’ambi who is injured.

According to FAM general secretary Sugzo Nyirenda said the team will leave on Sunday for Uganda for a friendly match and that they will joined by foreign legion players.

However, Joseph Kamwendo will not take part for the Uganda friendly because his team is in Tunisia.

Instead Kamwendo will join his friends on the trip to Benin.

Pikawo Ngalamira will be the leader of delegation while Young Chimodzi will be the head coach.

James Sangala will also travel with the team as the liason officer while Jack Chamangwana will be the assistant coach.
