“Government plans to construct a stadium in Zomba District as part of the youth empowerment. The development has come following complaints from the city’s residents that they depend on one old community ground for their games, a thing which retards the essence of their interaction and recreation.

The stadium will be of the modern standard to cater for the prevailing times. Some of the big football trophies will also be held at the stadium,”said the Minister.

However, Chihana did not disclose when and where the stadium is expected to be built, saying the ministry is waiting for a report from the construction officials who are still inspecting the district.

“We are waiting for the officials who up to the moment are still looking for a suitable and conducive place for the stadium to update us. Once the report is made available, then everything about the time and venue will be communicated,” explained Chihana.
