Malawi Police arrest man over Candlex counterfeit products
Malawi Police in the populous township of Ndirande in Blantyre city have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly being found in possession of counterfeit products.
The man, Joseph Chilakolako was arrested following a tip-off and a complaint from Candlex Malawi Limited, police have said.
Blantyre police Public Relations Officer, Elizabeth Divala told Nyasa Times Chilakolako was found with 125 cartons of glycerine with each carton containing 30 (50mls) bottles labelled Candlex Malawi Limited.
“He was arrested in his home which is in Chilimba Township. He was found with empty cartons, bottles labelled Candlex Malawi limited and three bags weighing 50kgs of glycerine,” explained Divala.
He has since been charged of forgery and being found in possession of counterfeit product contrary to Section 388 of the Penal Code.
Chilakolako hails from Kachinjika village, T/a Ganya in Ntcheu district.

Thats at least good thinking in theft circles only that he might be in hot soop because he has tampered with other people’s brands. In business, brand names are very expensive than everything a company might have.
