Malawi Police arrest man who slit wife’s throat over cheating allegations
Malawi Police in Mchinji have arrested a jealousy husband who on Tuesday slit the throats of his wife of many years after suspecting her she was flirting with another man.
Police officer in charge in Mchinji Maxmus Bakili identified the deceased woman as Alinafe Kalirani whom he said had her throat slit by her husband Lufeyo Kapukwa.
Both hail from Chief Mkanda’s area in Mchinji.
Bakili said after slitting the throat, Kapukwa took the body of Sato as she was battling for life, lifted it up to the roof of the house and let it fall down with force, splashing blood all over the place.
Mchinji Police Public Relations Officer Moses Kajawa Nyirenda said the couple quarreled on Monday and the wife left their house and decided to live with her mother.
He said on Tuesday, around 1 am, the husband entered his mother-in-law’s house through a window and entered the bedroom where his wife slept with their two year daughter.
After killing her, Kapukwa run away and went to his house but an angry mob followed him there where they severely beat him before handing him over to Mkanda Police unit.
He was referred to Mchinji District Hospital where medical officials referred him to Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe because of his life threatening wounds.
Kapukwa is still battling for his life at the central hospital.
