Malawi Police arrest serial sex offender: 65-year man gave K50 to two girls he defiled
Malawi Police in Machinga have arrested 65 year old Gringo Binda for allegedly defiled two little girls who revealed that the man has been giving them K50 to share as a reward each time of the sexual acts.
Police in Machinga confirmed the arrest of Binda from Musheka Village, Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba whose alleged defilement is contrary to Section 138 of the Penal Code.
Police Public Relations Officer for Machinga Constable, Davie Sulumba said the two girls aged six and nine respectively went for medical examinations at Mposa Health Centre where it was confirmed that they were indeed defiled.
The police arrested the suspect after member of Community Policing at Mposa apprehended him after one of the defiled girl’s mother reported the matter to the community based policing group.
The mother saw the girls with a K50.00 note which the girls said they received it from Binda but could not clearly explain why they deserved the cash.
The mother took the girls to the suspect who admitted to know the girls but was not clear why he gave them the cash until the two girls revealed that Binda has been giving the K50.00s each time he defiles them, according to Constable Sulumba.
In the meantime, Binba under police custody waiting for a trial.
Police is however is calling on parents and guardians to discourage small girls to interact with strange men or unmarried men to avoid cases of defilement and other sexual exploitations.
The District Aids Coordinator for Machinga, Ben Tohno has condemned the act saying such acts could easily transmit HIV due to bruises that associated with transgenerational sex.
He however called on parents and guardians to refer victims of defilement or rape to their nearest health centers within 72 hours for HIV test to also access Post Exposure Prophylaxis. (PEP) if proven HIV negative.
PEP is a type of ARVs given to those that accidentally come into contact t with human blood or those that are defiled, raped, according to the coordinator.–Mana
