Mzimba Police Public Relations Officer,  Gabriel Chiona said, the two arrested Malawians are Andy Nyasulu,  19,  from Village headman Mtomboloka,  in the area of Traditional Authority  Mwamulowe in Rumphi, and the other one is Abias Ngonya, 21 from  Mwakawoko in Karonga.

According to the PRO, the 12 illegal Ethiopians were all netted at Raiply Roadblock during the midnight.

Chiona said the police became suspicious with the movements of the vehicle, Toyota Ipsum Registration Number MC 3804 which was being driven by Andy Nyasulu.

He said in the course of  searching, they found 12 Ethiopians on board who had no travelling documents and they were arrested immediately.

“The suspects will answer the charge of Illegal Entry while the two malawias will answer the charge of aiding illegal immigrants,” said Chiona.

Chiona said the vehicle has since been impounded so that it can be exhbited as evidence in court soon  by the prosecution team.

In April 2014, Police arrested  159 Ethiopian nationals who were found in Mzimba district and Mzuzu city after
entering the country illegally.

During the same exercise the  Police  apprehended a Malawian man; James Gondwe aged 21, from Mwafulwa village, Traditional Authority Mwansambo in Karonga district, believed to have aided the foreigners.

leave them alone, if you see people leaving a well developed country to the poorest country, malawi, its obvious something is wrong. After all if they stay there they can either joi al shaabab or the piracy gangs on the horn of africa. Hypcrites, isnt this some form of xenophobia? We are in a global village and we talk of regional integration.
