Both Blantyre Police Station assistant spokesperson Andrew Mayawo and deputy spokesperson for Police southern region Beatrice Mikuwa confirmed that cops on patrol open fire when they saw  four people loitering around in the evening.

When thePolice questioned the four, they started running away prompting the officers  to shoot in the air and that a stray bullet hit one of them.

“What happened is that patrol officers saw four men who were looking suspicious wandering about near Avis Car Rental premises,” Mayawo said,.

He said Police have been receiving reports of criminal cases from Makata Industrial Area and police officers are being deployed to patrol the area.

He said Police fired in the air and three of the suspects managed to climb Blantyre Secondary School (BSS) fence but one was hit by a stray bullet.

Mikuwa corroborated the story, saying when the gunned down suspect was searched, he was found with a parabellum pistol without ammunition.

“His identity is yet to be established,” Mikuwa said.

The  deceased was taken to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (Qech) where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

This incident comes barely a week after police in Limbe shot dead three suspected criminals who were suspected of having plotted to rob a company at Mapanga.

robers have their laws. The bible knows this ”they come not rob but also to kill and destroy.

The state have laws to run police, these police kill and activists condemn this becouse they know where to find police.
They can’t condemn robbers coz they don’t know where to find them.
When a robber kill a citizen, activists say ”we have a weak police.
When a robber kill a policeman, actvists say we have a weak police.
When police kill a robber, the activists say we have a brutal police, the robber had a right to justice.

HOW I WISH A ROBBER KILL AN ACTIVIST. There will be no one to talk about rights of a robber.
THEN A POLICE MAN KILL A ROBBER FOR KILLING AN ACTIVIST,
A CITIZEN WILL SPEAK ” WE HAVE A GOOD POLICE THAT KILL ROBBERS.
    Thats where safety calls safe

jUST THINKING ALOUD – STRAY WHICH ARE NOT MISSING MEN – TARGET NDE IKUMAKHALA CHANI? POLICE YA KU MALAWI AKOUMBERA MUNTHU ITS BECAUSE THEY HAVE MISSED THE TARGET OTHERWISE THE DAY THEY WILL STRIKE THE TARGET THEY WILL MISS THE MOST WANTED MAN.

      I like your thought . . .
      . . . funny and interesting.
. . . and indeed, the thinking was loud.
Truth is, they neither shot in the air nor was the bullet, stray. They targeted and shot the person.

Since they know, you just cant go around shooting people merely for looking suspicious, the police had to come up with an alibi and perhaps a lie that he was found with a pistol for us to ignore their clumsy and unprofessional conduct.

Good move police. Keep it up!!! We have now reduced the number of armed robbers in the country at least by one. If he was thrown into jail he would have been draining extra govt resources for his subsistence in prison, including congesting further the prisons.

  12. Anti-Corruption says:

well done MPS keep it up

  13. Omex70 says:

Thank you police for the work well done. These criminals deserve that treatment because they retard development in Malawi by making people to live in fear whenever they have money and other assets. My plea to the police officers is this: Don’t wait for a stray ammunition to kill them. Just aim at them and eliminate them one by one. What about if the ammunition doesn’t go astray? It means these criminals will have freedom to do whatever they want… If you can target to eliminate at least 1 robber per day + those eliminated through mob justice, it means by the end of the year close to 400 criminals will be no more making Malawi a safer place to live in.

  14. Good work Malawi Police, I am humbly asking you to apply the similar force to every suspect including those working at capital hill,
    just gun them down
