Malawi prophet makes controversial claim: ‘Man not from south to win elections 2014’
A Malawi Prophet has claimed that a man from other regions in Malawi apart from the Southern Region will triumph during next year’s tripartite elections saying God’s vision has revealed.
This is not the first time self-acclaimed prophets in Malawi have predicted without success the outcomes of general elections in Malawi.
“It will be too early to reveal who that man is. But suffice to say that I have been praying over it for the past three months and it has become unbearable,” Prophet Bentry Canaan Chiko Chawinga of the Mzuzu based Holy Nature Ministries said.
Chawinga said this during a press conference held at Mimosa Motel on Tuesday.
Held under the theme: ‘Sharing God’s vision in 2014”, Chawinga said even biblically a woman represents the wickedness of a nation hence not fit for the highest office.
So far the known presidential candidates in the 2014 polls are, Malawi president Dr. Joyce Banda, who also leads the ruling People’s Party (PP) (Eastern Region), Atupele Muluzi president of the United Democratic Front (UDF) (Southern Region), Dr. Lazarus Chakwera president Malawi Congress Party (MCP), (Central Region) , Peter Mutharika of DPP (South) and James Nyondo President National Salvation Front (NSF) (Northern Region).
However, Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs Reverand Malani Mtonga laughed of the matter when called for comment saying Prophet Chawinga’s reference to the gospel on women leadership is strange.
Chawinga said women make better leaders than men citing examples Deborah, Esther and Mary as examples.
“Women were the first to preach the gospel of Jesus’ resurrection because they went to the Tomb when all men were afraid, “the Cleric said.
But Prophet Chawinga said God only used Deborah to rule Israel as a way of punishing the Nation because of its wickedness.
“He can also use a woman to lead as a way of drawing our attention to him as was the case with Deborah,” Chawinga said.
Chawinga said the vision from God to him came with the theme “Give me Malawi or Doom” saying Malawians have only seven months to return to God so that Malawi is given solutions of the myriad challenges it is facing.
“God has allowed to be led by a woman because of our sins such as homesexuality, massive corruption, prostitution, jealousy among others. They year 2014 will be tricky to Malawi as things must change for the better and it will take Malawians to cooperatively seek God’s intervention in prayer and fasting, “Chawinga said.
According to Chawinga the Holy Nature Ministries will next Month hold prayers at Mzuzu Stadium where it will invite all presidential Candidates and all aspiring MPs to seek God’s wisdom and guidance during the elections.
“Generally, speaking God designed men (kings) for leadership roles but only in some instances he does allow a woman to lead when there is too much wickedness in a country,”he claimed.—MEC Stringer
