Malawi Queens final squad out: 12 players on board
The Netball Association of Malawi ( NAM) has released a final 12-member Malawi Queens squad which is expected to leave on Friday for Australia to take part in this year’s Test Series and the Fast5 Netball World Series in New Zealand.
The squad, which has no Tigresses vastly experienced players in the name of the evergreen shooter Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe, Beatrice Kadango, Lauren Ngwira and Grace Mhango has been trimmed from the 20-member players who were in camp to 12.
NAM has entrusted their confidence in New Zealand bound star Mwawi ‘Professor’ Kumwenda to lead the slaughtering mission alongside Caroline ‘Ayuda’ Ngwira, Towera ‘Tobe’ Vinnkhumbo, Joana Kachilika, Tina Kamzati, Takondwa Lwazi, Bridget Kumwenda, Jessica ‘Agogo’ Mazengera, Jane Chimaliro, Joyce Mvula.
New names in the squad for the first time are MTL Queens Martha Dambo and Melenia Gedion.
According to Nam, the team will depart Blantyre for Lilongwe on Thursday before their journey to Australia on Friday.
The team will be coached by Griffin ‘Zagalo’ Saenda with the assistance of Mary ‘Atcheya’ Waya while Junnier Bamusi Kazembe will act as the team doctor.
However, many netball followers expressed their dissatisfaction on Nam’s decision leaving out the vastly experienced Tigresses players.
