“The other thing is that God always remind us is  to share the little we have with the needy. So we thought it wise to donate the exercise books to orphans at Jacaranda as one way of rendering help,” said Kalua.

She also assured the school authorities to consult them for any help as far as uplifting netball at the school is concerned.

Speaking on behalf of all the swimmers national team in Malawi, Zahra Pinto, who sourced the exercise books,  said they thought it wise to engage the Queens because they are one of the successful teams in Malawi.

“We are very happy to donate the exercise books to Jacaranda because we feel they need our support as they cannot afford to do everything on their own,” she said.

Pinto, who is on holiday from her school in South Africa, urged other sporting disciplines to emulate the Queens example by taking a leading role in assisting the needy.

In her remarks, the Founder of Jacaranda School for Orphans Marie da Silva hailed the Queens and Pinto for the donation.

Silva said the exercise books will help the students, who most of them could not afford to buy the books on their own.

“We have 212 orphans and most of these cannot afford to buy writting materials like exercise books. Let me ask God to bless our Malawi Queens as they are preparing for the African Netball Championship,”said Silva.

The exercise books were more than 100.
