Malawi Queens need K35mil to participate at Fast5 world tournament

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) General Secretary Carol Bapu has revealed that the Malawi National Senior Netball Team the Queens needs about K35 million to participate at this years Fast5 World Netball Championship without hitches.

Bapu disclosed this after her association received a cheque donation worth K500,000.00 from Old mutual to assist the girls in their preparations for the trip.

The Queens , who are currently in training camp are expected to fly to Melbourne, Australia to participate at this year’s Fast5 World Netball Championship Series slatted for 29th-30th October.

The Nam General Secretary revealed that apart from the K500,000 donated by Old Mutual, the association has only received K14.4 million from Airtel Money and K700,000.00 from Unicaf University remaining with a defecit of about K20 million.

“So far we have received support from Airtel Money amounting to K14.4 million and K700,000.00 from Unicaf University. It means we need about K20 million to travel because our budget is at K35 million” said Bapu.

She has since therefore pleaded with the corporate world and other well wishers to bail them out as dates for the competition are drawing closer.
