Malawi registers no cholera case since November

Malawi through its Ministry of Health said there is no cholera case so far recorded in any of the districts of the country since the onset of the rainy season in November.

Ministry of Health spokesperson Henry Chimbali said Friday that this is because of the good job done by both the health workers and the public.

“We hope it will be like this till rainy seasons ends. As of now we are making good progress and let us hope for good,” he said.

Although the progress is there, said Chimbali, people should remember proper hygiene and utilization of sanitary facilities as well as use of safe and treated water inorder for the country to continue registering zero cases of cholera.

Chimbali: Good news

Last year , Malawi had almost 1,806 cases with 38 deaths out of this Lake Chilwa registered 556 with 8 deaths.
