Malawi ruling PP claims membership hits 3 million

Close to three years on the ground, the ruling People’s Party (PP) has seen its membership grow to over three million registered members, the party has said.

The development has been attributed to Malawians’ trust they have in the party’s leadership of President Dr. Joyce Banda.

Making the remarks, PP Deputy Publicity Secretary, Ken Msonda indicated that the growing numbers indicate the faith that Malawians have in the party leaders and the country’s President as she is a woman with a track record of great works aimed at improving people’s livelihoods.

“As a party, we thank God for the leadership we have in President Joyce Banda who is a true daughter of Malawi soil whose leadership abilities need not be overemphasised,” explained Msonda.

The party deputy spokesperson indicated that this gives a clear indication that PP is a party Malawians are likely to vote into authority come 2014 due to the current progress that it has made in restoring sanity among Malawians.

“When PP got into power, the President made it clear that the problems Malawi was facing could be resolved in short-term, medium-term and long-term.

“So, the short-term resolutions have already borne results evidenced by the availability of fuel, forex and bilateral relationships,” he said.

He, however, called upon Malawians to register and vote for President Banda during the forthcoming tripartite elections.—Malawi News Agency
