Malawi Standard Bank to spice up semi-final games

Inspired and motivated with the good conduct of fans and the rest of the stakeholders during the quarterfinal stage of the K25 million Standard Bank football competition, the bank has promised to spice up the weekend semifinal clashes with some exciting activities.

The bank’s head of marketing Chimwemwe Matonga, speaking in an interview with Nyasa Times after conclusion of the quarterfinal matches said the sponsors have been greatly impressed with the conduct of fans, players as well as officials during both the play-offs and quarterfinal matches.

“So far so good… Our main worry was on the issue of hooliganism and we are happy that all games have gone violent-free. The games have also been very exciting and balanced but being a knock out competition, the losing teams had to bow out,” said Matonga.

The Standard Bank marketing boss promised fans some exciting activities as the competition goes to the final stages.

“From the semifinal stage, we will be bringing lots of exciting activities including entertainment to boost up the morale amongst all the participating teams and entertain the crowd,” said Matonga.

In the semifinals, Kamuzu Barracks play defending champions Mighty Wanderers at Silver Stadium on Saturday, Novermber 26 with last year’s losing finalists Silver Strikers hosting Civo United the following day.

Wanderers, Silver and Civo were also in the semifinals last year, when the bankers demolished their city rivals to book a final berth against the Nomads, who also saw off their rivals, Big Bullets in the semis.
