Malawi star Gaba cherishes historical cup triumph

Malawian star striker Gabadinho Mhango inspired his team Bidvest Wits to MTN8 cup for his first cup glory since moving to South Africa four years ago after beating Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0.

Gabadinho put up a brilliant performance in the run up to the victory collecting two man-man of the match awards scoring two goals and providing assist.

His fairytale run earned him maintaining starting line up in the final.

Gabadinho posted on his facebook that he was happy with the feat.

“Everybody is excited and salute my teammates and the technical panel for working hard hard to win this cup. It was not easy but we really deserved it,” he said.

The cup victory has capped a brilliant start at at Wits having won also won man of the match awards in South Africa flaship PSL league.

The victory has earned the club R8 million about K400 million with players entitled to 50 percent cut.

Meanwhile, Soccer Laduma has reported that the players would donate their share to Wits University towards renovations for the college damaged during students protests.
