Malawi star ‘Papa’ in Poland for trials

Malawian midfielder based in Zimbabwe Gerard ‘Papa’ Phiri Jnr has a chance of playing in Europe as he is undergoing trials in Poland.

But details of the club  is yet not known.

The CAPS United player arrived in Poland on Thursday where he will undergo intensive trials before he can be offered a contract.

The player’s father Gerard Phiri confirmed the development.

Papa is the player is known has been with the Zimbabwe outfit some four months after they completed his signing in June.

CAPS is believed to have paid a fee to be in the region of US$20 000 to Mighty Wanderers.

The 19-year-old midfielder signed a four-year contract at the Harare club.

Wanderers are entitled to 15 percent in the event that Phiri is successful in the trials and joins the club.

CAPS United also had Wanderers players that have played for the Zimbabwe outfit include Gift Makoloni, Hadji Tambala and Flames captain Joseph Kamwendo.

Kamwendo went on to play for Netherlands top club in the mid 2000 but returned for not so convincing reasons.
