Malawi to have state-of-art military hospital in Lilongwe- PP Manifesto

The ruling People’s Party (PP) in its manifesto has proposed and pledged to construct a state of art military hospital in Lilongwe once voted to power in the forthcoming Tripartite Elections.

PP furthermore reveals to boost the health sector across the country by constructing district hospitals and rehabilitating health centers which are dilapidated in all the cities.

The hospital which will be constructed in Lilongwe will help the healthsector to improve the health sector according to the ruling party.

Reads part of the Manifesto: “The hospital will cordially be used by both Police and Military, and will train different specialists to offer specializedtreatment to patients.”

According to the manifesto, as a way of minimizing the drug shortage in central hospitals, the Government is going to make sure that Central Medical Stores Trust is fully stocked at least for three months’ supply of essential drugs to all hospitals.

Furthermore, Peoples’ Party pledged to make sure that every district has a hospital in ten years.

“To improve delivery of outreach health services the party will innovative mechanisms of Mobile Medical Services to reach populations that live outside an 8 km radius from the nearest health infrastructure,” it says.

On the part of maternal mortality, they will increase the number of women delivering in health facilities.

It states: “To make sure that more women deliver in health facilities my Government will construct waiting homes across the country for pregnant women under the Presidential Initiative on Maternal Health and Safe-motherhood for improved reproductive health,” President Banda quoted having said that in the manifesto. According to People’s Party there will also be a reduced HIV prevalence rate and increased coverage of anti-retro viral therapy (ART) and child heath.

This will be possible through continued enhancing and accelerating therapeutic and preventive management of malnutrition, HIV and Aids in collaboration with local and international development partners.

The Peoples’ Party launched its manifestos on 29 the February, 2014 at Bingu International Conference Center in Lilongwe.
