Malawi top stars Piksy, Trumel to charm 2face concert- Nde’feyo

Malawian artists, Piksy and Trumel, from Nde’feyo entertainment are scheduled to share the stage with Nigeria’s 2face at a concert at BAT ground in Blantyre on July 27th.

So as much as the limelight falls on the Nigerian star, Malawi’s own artists have also been provided with a chance to prove themselves by sharing the stage with the African queen hit maker.

Nde’feyo Entertainment confirmed the artist’s participation at the concert to Malawi News Agency (Mana).

The presence of local artists for the concert not only translates into a curtain raising role, but provides an opportunity to the individual to learn from the big names and aspire higher.

“Yes, it is confirmed. We are excited as a label that we have provided these two talented artists a chance to open the show for one of the biggest stars in Africa,” said Maurice Nkawihe, Public Relations Manager for Nde’feyo Entertainments.

Nkawihe described this a positive development in its operations as a record label.

“We are encouraged to do more as a label so as to create a vibrant urban music scene in Malawi. We are sure that one day a Malawian artist will reach the level 2face is on,” he said.

Piksy himself could not hide his excitement to perform at the concert saying it is a rare chance to be at a big show with big artists.

However he said the biggest benefit would be if the artists who perform at concerts with international artists would be given a chance to meet the artists themselves.

“Much as we get excited with these developments, we would appreciate it more if we could get a chance to be meeting them in person. This would help us in exchanging contacts, ideas and even plan to work on collaborations with them.

“This is mostly never the case as these artists tend to be kept away and we never get a chance to meet them in person. All in all, I am excited to be part of this,” said Piksy in an interview with MANA.

Organised by Film in a Box Malawi, the concert has been organised to mark the completion of the Blantyre Film in A Box training which took place from  27th May to 16th June, 2013.

The organisers described the bringing in of 2face as its second phase in its commitment to supporting the film and creative industries of Malawi; building capacity and celebrating film, music, literature, visual arts and dance.

Tickets are currently going at K5, 000 ordinary and K10, 000 VIP and are being sold at Steers, Kips and EcoBank amongst others.

A special promotion has been carried out to enable people obtain a coupon via the Nation Newspapers which would get them the ordinary ticket at a K2, 000 discount.

Recently, Nigeria’s duo of Peter and Paul also held a show in the capital city at the Lilongwe Golf Club.
