Malawi VP dresses Media Stars
Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima has donated a brand new kit worth K400,000 to Lilongwe Media Stars soccer team which has been playing using borrowed uniform.
The uniform was handed over to the journalists’ team over the weekend by the Vice President’s Press aide Pilirani Phiri who accompanied the scribes to collect the new kit at Into Sports shop in Lilongwe.
“The Vice President learnt of the journalists’ side’s predicament and delegated me to present the brand new uniform to the team. He made it clear that he does not want to see the journalists’ side putting on Civo United or Silver Strikers’ uniform when lining up against the Members of Parliament (MPs) team in the near future,” said Phiri.
Phiri, who also plays for the Lilongwe Media side asked the journalists to take good care of the uniform.
A representative of the team Kingsley Jassi from Blantyre Newspapers hailed the Vice President for the timely donation.
“We are in the process of reorganizing our team and this donation could not have come at a better time than this,” said Jassi.
