Chipangula leads YPLA in donating to Salima hospital

Youth Leadership Project Africa (YLPA), a non profit making international non-governmental organisation, in conjunction with youths from one of its affiliates in Malawi, Dubai Youth Watch, have donated a bicycle ambulance, mosquito nets, food and other non food items to Salima District hospital,  which is on the lakeshores of Malawi.

A member of the Board of Directors of YLPA, Ms Eunice Chipangula, who is also the Deputy Principal Secretary for Sports, Youth Development and Welfare, led the youths in carrying out this charitable activity as part of efforts to cheer the sick and instil a sense of responsibility amongst the youth during this festive season.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Chipangula said YLPA in liason with the youths who contributed individually for the food items decided to make this donation in recognition of the fact that leadership is not only about holding decision making positions but also attending to the challenges of others by doing something about it to bring relief.

She said participation in development cannot be meaningful if the youths do not have a human heart and be empathetic to other peoples suffering.

Chipangula asked the officials at the hospital that the bicycle ambulance should be sent to serve at Makioni Health Centre, a hard to reach health facility in the district, which is about  60 kilometres away from the district hospital.

Makoni health centre has had patients struggling due to transportation problems when there are cases of referrals to the ditrict hospital.

Emulating Jesus

She said the youths also noted that during this rainy season, the district also being along the lake shore is highly infested with mosquitoes and therefore cases of malaria increase, hence the donation of mosquito nets to patients.

Chipangula said as youths, they are striving to make Jesus their highest mentor. She said that is why they followed His footsteps of giving and praying for patients as they were cheering the sick and presenting the items.

On his part, the District Nursing officer for Salima commended YLPA and the youths for the kind gesture saying this was exemplary to the society and befitting leaders of today and the future.

He told  YLPA that the donation of the bicycle ambulance that will be sent to Makioni as instructed, was timely since many patients were suffering as it is a hard to reach area and asked other organisations to emulate  this initiative.

Baby Eunice

While the youths were presenting food and non food items that included toiletries, they came across a baby girl born on christmas day whose mother, sadly passed away during delivery and is being kept at the hospital so that she is later handed over to social welfare.

Chipangula while there facilitated the procurement of tins of infant milk and donated it to keep the baby going until after the festive holidays when social welfare will take over in mid January, 2012.

She also named the baby, Eunice, and promised to folow up on her for support.

   I have read most of the comments with interest and noted that most of the negative comments made here are out of MALICE and JEALOUSY because they have been personalised, targeting EUNICE. a Malawi, nsanje siyani. 1.it is clear that Eunice was doing this on behalf of YLPA. 2. Eunice has a good leadership record, if not the best. She holds several leadership positions in society and appointed ones in government and i know she is a God fearing lady but you people you love painting her black because of jealousy. i also know she is an achiever and that cant be taken away from her. Eunice is not a Yao by tribe and there is no way she can speak yao English. I miss her golden voice on radio Malawi -This is not the first time she has done charitable work representing an organisation, she also supports many orphans and the needy, so get a life and follow suit. By the way, just google the name Eunice Chipangula, and you will see her achievements. and i am not surprised that FAILURES speak negatively about her and are afraid that she keeps on excelling in life. KEEP IT UP EUNICE, KEEP IT UP MADAM DEPUTY PS, KEEP IT UP PASTOR, KEEP IT UP LEAD VICE PRESIDENT, KEEP IT UP YLPA PROJECT DIRECTOR, KEEP IT UP FORMER DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL AND DEPUTY PS OF LABOUR, LANDS AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS!!!    Anyway. May be because we went to different schools. It think Eunice is one of Malawians who speak English much better. If it is Yao-accent-English the it’s a milestone. That beside, I wish Eunice the best and ask her to spread all over Malawi, we in the diaspora would assist her. Never discriminate against any group of people. We will get organised to assist Eunice’s vision i.e. uplifting the lives of underprevilaged. Like 2 Reply
