Msonda quits UDF because of frustration

Frustration has played a major role in forcing Ken Msonda the deputy publicity secretary of Friday Jumbe-led United Democratic Front (UDF) faction to announce his resignation from the party and politics as a whole, Nyasa Times has learnt.
Nsonda announced on Tuesday through various local radio stations that he has resigned from UDF and quit the politics because he felt being “used” by fellow UDF officials.
Long-overdue
The rubble rouser politician also said the decision was made long time ago but his colleagues in the party were refusing to let him go because of his crucial role in the party.
Msonda: Quit
“I feel it’s now time to call it quit and I have no intention at the moment of joining any political party. I better concentrate on my own things,” Msonda said.
Reacting to Msonda’s move an official in the Jumbe-led UDF camp confided in Nyasa Times reporter that Msonda has resigned after being quizzed by some top brass in the faction over his intention to join the Kennedy Makwangwala-led UDF camp.
“We received information that Msonda called Makwangwala on phone on Saturday 7th January asking Makwangwala to book him an appointment with retired UDF chairman Bakili Muluzi at his BCA house where he wanted to ask Muluzi to consider him to join the Makwangwala- led camp ” , said the official.
Muluzi had however snubbed Msonda’s request and told Makwangwala to tell him that he has no such powers in the UDF this time because he retired from politics.
“When we asked him to defend himself on the reports, Msonda looked ashamed and said he did not know what he was doing and insisted that we should tell him the sources of the information to which we refused”, said the official.
Ever since, the officials said Msonda began leaving in isolation “so the news of his resignation has not come as a surprise to us”.
Mercenary
Some irate UDF officials, last week nearly beat up Msonda while others literally spat on him at the High Court premises in Blantyre after the court vacated the injunction which his grouping had obtained in a bid to restrain the UDF from holding its national executive meeting which Makwangwala had proposed.
They accused Msonda of inflaming divisions in the party through media statements he was making alongside the faction’s second vice president Humphrey’s Mvula.
He and Mvula have also been accused of pocketing money from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party officials to de-campaign and frustrate Muluzi’s son Atupele who has expressed interest to represent the party in 2014 polls.

ReplyUDF is no more i dont know why the press is busy with this dead party as long as the name of muluzi will keep coming the party is destined for its final exit. atupele is immature to rule the nation. he is a toddler allowing him to stand for UDF will be a political blunder, he will be there to serve his father from the ACB.

ReplyI used to know Mnsonda as a powerful mkulu wampingo that time at st james ccap in zingwangwa. But things changed for him when he joined politics. Mnsonda come back to God, he will not frustrate you. Use your good voice kuzinthu za ambuye sazakutembenukira

ReplyEvil plans will never strive. This group which have a grudge against the UDF party thought that they will manage to break it since they managed to get one of them be interim president of the party. But rightous have caught them napping. First, they lost all MPs of the UDF party. Then they lost their pillar (Makwangwala) which was sent to write things at their whim. As for Mtafu, he was not theirs from the bigining. Now is Nsonda who was their mouth peice whenever Mvula felt tired. How many are now remaining in that empty tins noise camp? Only ten, which is one sixth of the UDF NEC of sixty excluding MPs. The whole idea of asking Makwangwala to book appointment with Bakili, is because of what they keep thinking in that camp that Bakili is still in the for front of the party, which have shown that he is not by his refusal to do anything with it.
A warning to the UDF leaders! Please do not allow any of these ten remaining to come and join you because they will come in sheeps skin but deep down, they would be plotting to destroy the party within. Let go to those who are sending them. If you look deeply on these ten, their hearts left UDF long ago. Jumbe was about to Join DPP on its inception, Mvula was to do the same if it weren’t for his arrests, Chilumpha had written to join DPP after his election, Mpasu was to serve seven years but served two because of some deal with DPP, Chiwambo is being used although he managed to run away from being inprisoned sighting ill health, Kulesi will follow Chilumpha whereever he goes. How can these tainted people claim to stand for UDF party? How can they claim to love the UDF now rather than destroy it? Fortunately, their evil plans have backfired. Now the UDF is becoming strong as good will always prevail of bad.
