DPP says stripping is ‘regime change’ plot

The blame game continues. Now Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) first vice president Goodall Gondwe says people who organised the stripping of women in Malawi’s three major cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu last week would want to be in government without an election.
“They want to start something like what happened in Egypt, Tunisia or Libya,” Gondwe claimed Katoto Secondary School in Mzuzu on Sunday during a meeting called by the Ministry of Youth Development and Welfare but also attended by some DPP Regional Officials, MPs and National Campaign Director Dr Ken Zikhale Ng’oma.
The meeting was organised as one way of dialoguing with vendors in the wake of incidences stripping women that occurred last week.

“If you want that (the Arab spring revolution) here you are going to suffer,” said Gondwe, the Minister of Energy, adding “Is there peace now in Egypt after Mubarak? And look at what is happening now in Libya. People are just killing each other.”
The Minister added: “What they are doing is to incite people to revolt against the DPP led government. It cannot be that President Bingu wa Mutharika sent these people to the streets to strip women off their clothes. It’s a few young men hired by these people.”
Gondwe, who resorted to English after struggling with his mother tongue Tumbuka, further claimed that the ‘organisers’, whom he did not name, want to discredit President Bingu wa Mutharika in the eyes of the international community so that he should not reach 2014.
“Don’t use any excuse to stop the 2014 elections. Wait and I can assure you that DPP will be on top again,” said Gondwe, credited for Malawi’s economic success during President Bingu wa Mutharika’s first term.
But DPP Youth Director Boniface Gotani wa Gotani Mkandawire said the culprits were people of no fixed abode.
Mkandawire mentioned Minibus and Taxi Touts and Bicycle Taxi Operators saying they were difficult to trace.
“We have a very cordial relationship with vendors and they cannot do such a thing,” he said.
However, DPP National Campaign Director Dr Ken Zikhale Ng’oma agreed with Gondwe saying these ‘mythical’ people are hell bent on fighting President Mutharika and his government.
“But what they don’t know is that Mutharika does not fight people but poverty. He wants this country to develop to the fullest,” Ng’oma said.
He then said that northerners were always victims of circumstances. Zikhale did not elaborate.
“We are very few here and we cannot manage to rule this country. Late Chakufwa Chihana tried but failed. We need to work with our friends from other regions so that we bring development here,” he also claimed.
Ng’oma donated MK100, 000 to the vendors.

Azikhale, who told u that northerners can not rule this country? That thinking is archaic, that is why we want to change things so that every malawian regardless of where he/she comes from should stand a chance of becoming president one day, that is what we call democracy. Democracy is not about dividing people according to regions and tribes, and not about completely ruling out others from leading the nation.Democracy is about putting the right individuals onto leadership to lead the nation in development matters. ours is not a kingdom where we ca say lomwes and yaos are the only ones to compete for leadership.It is unfortunate that northerners undermine themselves when it comes to presidency issues, but why? If zikhale feels he can not become president of this country someday he shouldnt discourage others from aspiring for presidency because they are northerners.

We cannot exist together because the Mutharika brothers believe in oppressing our people as the way to uplift the lives of their tribe. Why quota system on the tribes of the north? Should the Northerners continue taking this shit? We thought when we won from Kamuzu Banda the quota system was also gone but to find out these people want to wipe us out. ReplyWhile I do not support those that went about undressing women I also do not support women going about naked in the name of freedom of dressing.I think what we have is freedom of dressing and not freedom of undressing.May someone correct me if I am wrong.We dress to cover nakedness and it is only someone insane that would want to expose nakedness.
We claim to be God fearing nation and the bible teaches us that our women should be modest and sensible about their clothes and dress properly( 1Timothy2:9 Good News Version).Is putting on a very short dress and a very tight transparent pair of trousers being modest or putting on a very short skirt that reveals everything or a too tight pair of trousers being modest? Is it Malawian culture?
We have been fighting gays and those that want to protect gays rights that it is against our culture and the bible does not allow it.Does the Bible or the Quoran allow people to go about naked? Are we honest or playing politics? We should remember that God is not mocked whatever seed we saw we shall reap the same.By playing double standards we are only cheating and fooling ourselves.Is there a country that has a constitution which is above God’s? Let us therefore be sober in dealing with such matters.

ReplyThis is very sad, fellow Northerners, just because you hate DPP, you forget that the whole country, (including Northerners Ziliro Chibambo in 1999) keeps saying, A Tumbuka simuzalamulira.
Zikhale is just repeating what has been said numerous times by different people, most of whom are not DPP. You want to be friends with people that can’t stand you, by virifying your own, that are reminding you what you already know to be true?
Why is it that everybody seems to believe that the only people that want Bingu to go NOW, are the ordinary people like us.
Does it occur to you people, that big political heavyweights also want Bing gone yesterday? And what do you think they are doing about it? Sitting at home and drinking Mahewu? Wake up and smell the coffee.
It is very possible that the likes of Muluzi, Mpinganjira, Tembo are doing something to dislodge Bingu, and undressing women could be one of them. If that had continued, don’t you think there could have been riots worse than the University ones?
The sad part is, so many people believe that Bingu will go quietly if we demonstrate. Bingu will go all right, but it is not Bingu or Goodall Gondwe who will die in the processes, even if they did, these are old men on their way out. The people that will lose their lives are those on their way in and they will never know what they might have become.
Most of the comments here are silly, If Gondwe is claiming the people that were responsible for last weeks fiasco were sent by destabilising forces, the thing to do is take him to task so that he tells us who these are. In any case 15 have been arrested they should be able to tell us. But knowing the ignorance of Malawians, you want to hear that Bingu sent them; you are not interested in the truth.
The bottom line is, all those northerners that have commented here “bakujipapikizga kubanthu bakumwera na bapakati” They will not love you for hating your own, they hate you even more.
Northerners learn to respect yourselves, otherwise no one will respect you.

ReplyI have owez been an admirer of Goodall. He used to say ‘ I’m not a politician but a finance person’. But with this SHIT he vomitted at Katoto flanked by stupid Vuwa and foolish Zikhale, I better respect my dog at home than Goodall anymore. These three guys are not only a disgrace but a shame not only to the north but to Malawi as a whole. BIngus condoms indeed. Mind u he ejaculates prematurely, which means you will be dumped so soon!
