Malawian Arsenal fans help Emma Mzagada with cash, assorted items

A Whatsapp group of Malawians who  support English Premier League side Arsenal has raised £400 (about K369,000 at current exchange rate) and donated cash and assorted food items to the ailing netball legend Emma Mzagada.

The group’s spokesman, Tiyese Kaimila,  said the 39-member WhatsApp group comprises of a Malawians who are based in the UK, Qatar, Germany and Malawi, generated the sum through their.

Kaimila said the Malawian fans decided to help the former Malawi Queens shooter after noting her health in reports that Nyasa Times has been carrying and other media outlets that she needed money for her leg surgery at BeitCure International Hospital.

In the future to avoid such scenario occurring again, Kaimila suggested that the government should put a mechanism in place whereby if a certain individual has reached let’s say 50 caps for the national team  should be accorded the same privileges like the medical scheme that senior government officials are on.

Kaimila said Malawian Arsenal fans would like to make it a habit to contribute in charity.

The netball legend’s elder sister Jessica Mzagada expressed gratitude to the ‘Gunners’ for the support.

She said they  have at least K900 000 and close to meeting the required K1.5 million.”

Kaimila urged other sports loving individuals to help Mzagada.
