Malawian companies support Golden Jubilee celebrations in UK

The Malawi High Commission in the United Kingdom wishes to register its sincere gratitude to Malawian and Malawian aligned businesses andnorganisations for supporting the 50th Independence Anniversary Celebrations in the United Kingdom

Malawi will be commemorating 50 years of self-rule from Britain and the United Kingdom is the largest home to the Malawian diaspora in the Northern Hemisphere and the events that have been supported by the companies and organisations reflect the journey of peace, love and dedication of Malawians in the past five decades.

 The High Commissioner Mr. Benard Sande in acknowledging the support he says, “These companies, organisations and individuals are true partners of Malawi. The mission is greatly honoured that in a financially difficult year, these companies and organisations have come in to support the events and also afford Malawians across the United Kingdom to come together to share the stories of our past and strategise for the future.”

AB Sugar at its subsidiary Illovo Sugar Malawi are the main sponsors of the Golden Jubilee Official Reception at the Hyatt Regency London-The Churchill alongside International Diplomatic Services (IDS) who are providing drinks for the event.

 The event the is the official diplomatic event with full digital and poster exhibition of Malawi’s 50 year history. Diplomats, private sector, associations, faith leader, charities and Malawians in the diaspora have been invited.

CDH Investment Bank is bankrolling the Malawi@50 Party on Saturday 5th July 2014, a free party for all Malawians in the United Kingdom. IDS has provided drinks and other companies include Limphasa Sugar, Parker Events owned by a Malawian Edith Parker and World Cargo.

The Malawi Party is expected to include a Nkazi Fashion show, a combination of Victorian and Malawian designs by Mary Machado, Malawi dances and Malawian foods including nsima and rice and traditional beans, nthumbwana and barbecue.

CDH Investment Bank will offer an opportunity to all Malawians in the diaspora to open their accounts and is expected to visit Bedford, Luton, Leicester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester and Scotland to extend the opportunities of opening accounts to the diaspora.

During the events CDH will have a desk for the same purposes.

Other events include two Fundraising events on July 4, 2014, Malawi Night at Commonwealth Secretariat in support of Malawi Health Care Services and Malawi Turns 50 at Kingston College in aid of African Vision Malawi who are building a Village Polytechnic in Lilongwe North.

On July 6 there are prayers at Christ Church in Leamington Spa followed by a Garden Party, while the following day Westminster Abbey will host Malawi Evensong Prayers. On the 12th July, 2014, David Livingstone Centre in Blantyre Scotland will host Malawi @50 in Scotland which will include football. Barbecue and family events.

The events with end with Malawi@50 Thanksgiving Prayers at the Malawi House (High Commission) in London led by Malawi Women Association United Kingdom on the 19th.

Black Missionaries are expected in the United Kingdom to plat on June28 (Birmingham) July 5 (Manchester) and Scotland.

We expect all Malawians and friends of Malawi to turn up for these events in large numbers.
