Malawian defender Mzava helps Arrows to draw over Chipa
Malawi international defender Limbikani Mzava helped Golden Arrows to snatch a point against Chippa United in South Africa’s Absa Premiership on Friday.
Mzava made a timely clearance off the line to deny the hosts extending the lead to 2 which could have demoralised the visitors.
Kickoff reported that Chippa were in control of the game and should blame themselves for the draw.
“Chipa went into thehalf time break well in control of proceedings as they continued to threaten upfront,while the visitors had not yet tested goalkeeper.”
Andile Mbenyane had an early chance in the second half to double the lead but Limbikani Mzava did well to clear the ball off the line after Nkosingiphile Gumede was well beaten.
After surviving conceding the second goal Golden Arrows equalised Lerato Lamola cancelled his namesake Lerato Manzini’s 16th minute goal in the 51st minute.
Manzini restored Chippa’s lead with his brace in the 53rd minute.
But Lamola then completed a double in the 81st minute to level matters once again at the back post with a half volley after poor Chippa defending.
Chippa lost the reverse fixture.
