Malawian father caged for sex assault on his son and daughter
The Blantyre Magistrate Court has ordered that 44 year-old Andrew Mazunda from Kapalapata village, Traditional Authority Timbiri in Nkhata-bay district be on full remand at Chichiri Prison in Blantyre pending his full trial on two accounts of sodomy and defilement.
The police arrested Mazunda on April 11, 2013 at his home at Naperi residence following revelations that he has been defiling his six year-old biological daughter, apart from sodomizing his 14 year-old son.
The suspect was caught red handed sodomizing his son by his wife in February this year, but the victim’s mother swept the incident under the carpet until on April 11, 2013 when she disclosed the ordeal at a family meeting.
“She told the police at Blantyre Police Station that during one night in the month of February 2013; she found her husband in the process of sodomizing his son aged 14 at the living room. She (mother) didn’t disclose to any person.
“In the same month, her daughter aged 6 reported to her mother that she was feeling pain in her private part. After the mother interrogated her, she revealed that she was feeling pain in her private part because her father has been having carnal knowledge for several times. She (mother) kept quite without telling any person as well for her reasons best known by herself.
On April 11, 2013; the suspect’s mother organized a family caucus. Among other issues discussed; she (mother) disclosed these two incidents. Her family members including her sister advised her to report the matter to Soche police sub-station,” reads the Police statement in part.
Upon receipt of the complaint, the law enforcers referred the two victims to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where acts of sodomy and defilement were confirmed.
He was consequently charged with sodomy and defilement with the court fully remanding him pending full trail of the two accounts in due course.
